Last updated: 30 October 2026

Who we are

The data controller is BGAL Limited, trading as Galvins Wines & Spirits, a company registered in Ireland (company no. 377309). Registered office: Unit 6 Owenabue Mall, Main Street, Carrigaline, Co. Cork. Trading address: 37 Bandon Road, The Lough, Cork. For any privacy question or request, email sales@galvinswines.ie, call 021 491 5214, or write to us at 37 Bandon Road. We are not required to appoint a Data Protection Officer.

What we collect

  • Enquiries: your name, phone, email, business name, event date and message when you email, phone or use our enquiry form (which opens your own email app).
  • Trade account and price list requests: the business name, contact name, phone, email, type of business, town, rough weekly spend (if you give it) and message you enter on our website forms. These are emailed to our sales team; the website does not keep a copy.
  • Orders and events: what you order, collection or delivery details, and deposit and sale or return records.
  • Trade accounts: what you give us on our account application form: business, company, VAT, CRO and liquor licence details; contact details for managers, licensees, proprietors and guarantors (including residential addresses); trade reference details; and, for direct debit, bank account details (IBAN and BIC).
  • Age confirmation: when you confirm you are 18 or over, your browser remembers that choice in local storage on your device. It is not sent to us.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • To answer enquiries and supply orders: to take steps you ask for before a contract, and to perform the contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • To assess, open and run trade accounts, including contacting your trade reference and collecting payment: contract, and our legitimate interest in managing credit risk (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)).
  • To keep accounting, tax and licensing records: legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)).
  • To send offers or news: only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time (Art. 6(1)(a)). Every marketing email will have an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only where needed: with our bank and payment providers (for card payments and direct debits), our IT, email and website hosting providers, our accountants and professional advisers, and public authorities such as Revenue where the law requires. Our providers act on our instructions and must keep your data secure. If any of them process data outside the EEA, appropriate safeguards (such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry, run your account and meet our legal obligations. Financial and tax records are typically kept for 6 years. After that, we delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email sales@galvinswines.ie. We will reply within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission: www.dataprotection.ie, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28.

Cookies

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The only thing it stores is your age confirmation, kept in your own browser. If we add analytics later, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.

Social media

If you contact us through our Facebook Pages, Meta also processes your data under its own privacy policy.
